Michael Arbuckle is a highly experienced Natural Resource Management Specialist with over 30 years practical experience as a senior executive in both the public and private sectors.
He has led fisheries reforms and investment programs at the World Bank and the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization across a wide range of countries in Africa, the Middle East, South Asia and the Pacific. In New Zealand, he was the General Manager of Fisheries Management within the Ministry of Fisheries for five years and has held chief executive and director positions in several seafood industry organizations. He holds a M.Sc. (Hons) degree in Natural Resource Management and has a particular interest and expertise in institution economics and the development of policy and organizations to support stakeholder led fisheries management approaches.
Jerry directs overseas operations, manages Asian production, and leads the Lesser Sunda Sustainable Fisheries Initiative (LSSFI). Founding NAI in 1981 and BSI in 2009, he has pioneered cold chain technology and sustainability work in wild capture fisheries throughout his career.
Jerry champions two sustainability philosophies; 1) democratize the supply chain to pass value and information back to the fisher communities and 2) traceability implementation drives the data critical for achieving long term sustainability in a fishery. Consequently, the fundamental goals of his present work in Indonesia are to develop a sustainable supply to service both international and domestic customers while addressing supply chain inefficiencies, poverty alleviation, livelihood creation, fisheries conservation and fair trade.
EN Vankat is a Partner at Aavishkaar and leads the Aavishkaar Frontier Fund (AFF) initiative. Through AFF, Aavishkaar delivers their venture financing model outside of India to surrounding countries in South and South East Asia.
Venkat has more than 25 years of experience in Investment Banking (Lazard), financial services (IL&FS) and the corporate world (multiple companies). He is a senior investment banker and has executed multiple M&A, project finance and special situation deals. He has been involved with a variety of business situations from startups, infrastructure, private equity, fund management and new business development. His overseas work experience includes the Middle East and Hong Kong. Venkat received a post graduate diploma in Management (IIM- Ahmedabad, India) and BE in Electrical and Electronic Engineering (BITS, Pilani, India).
